How does the system of privleges works? Very simple, if your dad was an elder or ms, you got privleges and it didnt matter if you were baptised or not as long as you were a publisher.

The system of privileges in WTS - any thoughts on how it works?
by Pole inwts has quite a few traits which are typical of totalitarian systems.
many of them have been demonstrated on this board (labeling, shunning, monopoly on truth, propaganda, indoctrination, polarization of reality etc.)..
there is one more aspect of the wts religion which can also be observed in most totalitarian systems and that is the system of granting privileges.

by mkr32208 inhow did you know that you were completly faded?
i finally realized the other day that i was completly out, i think for the first time i really had evidence that i was out.
i was at a witness get together (wife still in so i'm allowed to tag along...) and a witness i didn't know from kentucky or tennessee or somewhere was talking to me and using the "terminalogy" and something i said must have cued him because he said "are you a jehovah's witness?

I would like to say Im completely faded but I cant, my loved ones are still in. That would be my gramma and my mom, and I still want to be able to TALK to them and have them HUG me. Its not easy, I wish it were. Sometimes, I still catch myself saying that Im a JW, when asked, "what religion are you?". But then, I quickly make it clear that I was RAISED jdub(actually I was baptised, age 12) and that my mom and gramma are still active.

What!? and admit that they are HUMAN and that they make mistakes. They dont make mistakes, they only get "new light". Thats number one and secondly too much $$$ is at stake to ever make themselves a legal bullseye.

Let's all show up at the Memorial - and gasp - Partake!
by AK - Jeff inhere is a plan to throw the entire organization into chaos.
many of the 'apostates' here believe in the ransom of jesus - and the command to partake of the 'communion' of the lords evening meal, right?
i have come to accept that that 'memorial' is simply a recognition of jesus' sacrifice.

Were You One of Those That Ran To The Elders About Everything???
by minimus indid you always call the elders or talk to them about things?
did you have a favorite elder that you confided to about everything?
if someone was acting inappropriately, did you feel obliged to "report" them to the elders?

Cant say that I ever did. My mom's saying was that your dirty laundry gets washed at home. Oh wait...one time I did, but that was to squash some rumors that my good friend and I had gone to a strip club and that a brother had seen my car in the parking lot and had seen my buddy and I walk out from the place. It wasnt true. I didnt want my privledges in the cong to be affected, thats why I brought it up, before I was ever approached about it. But now I go to strip clubs all the time.......privledges be damned!

Growing up jdub, I was always told that the worst jdub is still a better person than best wordly person. And that wasnt my mom or gramma telling me that. That came straight from the elders.
I think this letter was very well written. It shows that you put alotta thought into it. The calm demeanor is evident as well as the fact, that you are not trying to be antogonistic. Kudos, for putting the onus on your nephew and his wife.
Its a very sad situation for both cousins because they are missing out on a potentially great friendship. And, I say that because growing up and till this day my cousin is my best friend.

I am moved
by rune ini stayed up all night to see it... the buildings out the windows of my apartment shimmer in the distance as a wave of golden light rises from the horizon, painting the sky glorious shades of blue, violet and orange.
the darkness recedes, creeping through the forests before the city.
light, especially a sunrise, holds a special place in my heart.... what moves you?

What moves me...An unexpected phone call from my gramma. That one always gets me.
Also at night, when I look out the balcony at the ocean and I see a bright full moon lighting up the night sky for the ships waiting their turn to get into the port. That does it for me as well. I dont know why, I think its because of the tranquility of it all.
